Common Diseases Associated with Toxic Exposure
The following diseases have been linked to well-documented environmental and pharmaceutical exposures. If you have been diagnosed with one of these conditions, it’s critical to explore your legal options.
1. Kidney and Testicular Cancer (PFAS)
PFAS, sometimes called “forever chemicals,” have been found in drinking water across the U.S., particularly near military bases and industrial sites. Long-term ingestion of PFAS has been linked to:
- Kidney cancer
- Testicular cancer
- Liver damage
- Thyroid disease
- Ulcerative colitis
These chemicals were used in firefighting foams, non-stick cookware, and industrial waste. Veterans and residents living near contaminated bases are particularly at risk.
2. Parkinson’s Disease (Paraquat Herbicide)
Paraquat is a toxic herbicide widely used in agriculture. Recent research has found a significant correlation between Paraquat exposure and Parkinson’s disease, particularly in farm workers and rural communities. This neurodegenerative condition often develops slowly and can severely impact mobility, speech, and quality of life.
3. Breast, Lung, and Blood Cancers (Ethylene Oxide)
Ethylene Oxide (EtO) is a gas used in medical sterilization and industrial processes. It is a classified human carcinogen by the EPA and has been shown to cause:
- Breast cancer
- Leukemia
- Lymphoma (Non-Hodgkin’s)
- Multiple myeloma
- Liver and lung cancer
People living within several miles of EtO-emitting facilities—as well as workers—are at elevated risk.
4. Gastroparesis and Bowel Obstruction (Ozempic, Wegovy, Rybelsus)
New medical research suggests that GLP-1 agonist drugs like Ozempic, Wegovy, and Rybelsus can lead to severe gastrointestinal conditions:
- Gastroparesis (Stomach paralysis)
- Bowel obstruction
While these drugs are FDA-approved for type 2 diabetes, they are now frequently prescribed for weight loss. Patients using these drugs, especially without prior GI issues, may be at risk of life-long complications with no known cure.
