Carl L. Solomon is actively involved in several Mass Torts. Carl has been involved with high-profile litigations in South Carolina and nationally. He has served at several levels of litigation in mass torts/class actions, including: AFFF LITIGATION – Appointment – Plaintiff’s Executive Committee; JUUL LITIGATION – Counsel for 23 School Districts (17 SC and 6 PA); OPIOID LITIGATION – City of Columbia; IN RE GRANITEVILLE TRAIN DERAILMENT – Plaintiff’s Steering Committee; and Prevost v. Roper St. Francis Appointment – Lead Co-Counsel (Data Breach Class Action). Carl is a member of the American Law Institute (ALI) and serves on the National College of Advocacy – AAJ (Co-Chair from 2019 –2021).
Carl previously served as President of the South Carolina Bar (2010–2011), the Pro Bono Criminal Domestic Violence Prosecutor for the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office (2008 –2011), and a City of Columbia Municipal Judge (2011–2015). He has provided presentations at the state level (South Carolina Bar, South Carolina Black Lawyers Association, South Carolina Association of Justice, Arkansas Association of Justice, New Jersey Association of Justice) and at the national level (American Association of Justice). Carl’s American Association for Justice (AAJ) presentations and teachings include: Ultimate Trial Advocacy Course: Art of Persuasion, Advanced Deposition College, 2019 – Rules of the Road for Depositions, Discovery, Mediations at La Fonda on the Plaza in Santa Fe, NM, and multiple other presentations at various AAJ Conventions.
